hi, this morning skype.com was working fine.

just nowm and i have tried this several times, when trying to access www.skype.com i get a windows prompt with the following message

QUOTE
The server staging.skype.com at Skype_2.0_Staging requires a username and password.

Warning: This server is requesting that your username and password be sent in an insecure manner (basic authentication without a secure connection).

and there are two input boxes, one for user name (lising all my e-mail addreses) another for password

anyone have any idea what's going on?

thank you.

ps. i can click on cancel and the page appears to load fine... just concerned why i am being asked for a password.

No issues here, Lukman.
I've just tested it and it's working normally for me.

thanks Norman, just tried it again, seems to be working fine now with no weird prompts.... only difference between now and before is that i used my tv card after that prompt. i doubt that is a significant factor though.

lukman - when this happens, we've screwed up something with our site publishing. We usually learn of this ourselves quickly and fix it, so you shouldn't see any of that "staging" stuff after a while, it will disappear automatically.

thank you jaanus, it is reassuring to know that skype is aware of such things and does act on them promptly smile.png
