i have noticed the following

status: only online (away mode), not using a chat, call, or file transfer

and strangely from time to time i noticed that i have a datatransfer to the internet without using the computer. its about 12kB to 50 kB up and download. i have no clue why this happens. when i switch off my skype the data transfer stops immediately!

what is it?

how can i avoid to send data packages to the internet. i only have a limited data value for each month!

plz help me

p.s. can it be a trojan or virus?

btw. i noticed the datatransfer with DU Meter

This is the nature of P2P communication, or the way SKYPE works, it directs traffic through its users, you can read more about it in knowledge base.
Indeed servers/systems that have plenty bandwidth become supernodes.

Best way to limit it, is untick port 80/443 in tools-->options--.connections-->save
HOWEVER
You will never eliminate as SKYPE is checking your online status/any chats ect waiting, so this will always generate some traffic.

ty very much for your reply .. i will try your suggestions

i know that its normal that a messanger stays in "contact" with the internet, though i was surprised that it uses so much bandwidth (40-50 up and dl for some minutes).

ty again
