Hi! Thanks for the inquiry. Please let me know if I don't answer your questions fully.
* We have open dialogue with SMC about their products and roadmap. As such, we discuss many things, but I am not sure we have any 'influence' -- but we like to thinks so anyway!
* SMC is aware of all the features their customers want -- and they let us know that many issues will be addressed with firmware updates (if technology allows).
* It has been our experience that hardware vendors -- and software like Skype -- are tight to the vest with exact dates for releases... but I can confidently say (based on direct conversation) that the firmware version now .10 (US) .13 (UK) will NOT be the last... there are some developing going on as we speak.
* User group is great idea, but lets piggyback of the Skype fourm as, remember, the SMC product is Skype Certified. I think the Hardware section is most appropriate.
* We see issues like chat, SMS, web browser as great add-ons... lets just see how much they can fit into the 16 megs of memory.
We fully expect the SMC WiFi phone to become a better product -- although we are quite satisfied with the sound clarity as well as being able to make/receive calls without a computer!

Hi AmperorDirect.com!
I can see that you are conviced that the SMC Wifi phone is a good product for using Skype "on-the-road". There still seem to be a few issues with this phone and definitely there is room for improvement of the firmware as Skype progresses with their clients for PC's.
Couple of questions:
- What is your influence at SMC Development for this product? Are they receptive to suggestions from their users?
- What is a normal update schedule for the firmware for this phone? What i'm trying to say is there every month a new version? Every 6 months? Every year? Ever?
- What about running a usergroup on the internet for this phone where we can share ideas, share problems and make statements to SMC where and how the phone can be improved? I certainly see room for improvement. Battery life, backlight, SMS, Chat.
By doing this, we can all work to make this a better product!
What do you think?
Have fun,
Ton.
