Been trying to create a new account with Skype 3.0 Beta and it refuses to work. I've tried on two different machines and two different networks. There are no firewalls, no proxies, the router isn't a problem, and I can connect to skype with an existing username just fine. When I attempt to "sign in" on the second page of the sign up screen I get the following error message:

Could not connect to skype.
Skype could not connect. You may be behind a firewall or experiencing problems connecting to the internet. Please check your connection and try again.



Anyone else seen this problem? Is there any way to sign up on the web? Otherwise I have to uninstall 3.0 and go back to 2.5 just to create a new account.

I also tried with 2.5 and couldn't create an account. Is something down with the account creation system?

I tried yesterday, maybe 24 hours ago - and it worked. I guess it was the network, and not the software.
