I would like to record Skype calls. Is this possible? Is it a possible future feature? Is there a compliance aspect to this?
Chris.

Well, keep your money and do a search on the forum. There have been many people asking for it and it's been answered often enough on how to do it.

Thank you for saying it's been answered often enough in the past. I did a search but found mention of Total Recorder which has a bug when recording Skype calls. Is this what you meant Ann?

Have tried using Total Recorder and have found that the combination is not working.
I don't know what the root cause is.
Will search the forum for more clues

Frankly, I do not have the time and patience to go out and search for a set of unsupported utilities or tweaks that may (or may not) do the job.
I would like to see a simple 'record' button in Skype that you can click. I do not think that is rocket science, is it?
Perhaps a word from Skype staff could help here? I have not seen a response from a Skype-person - what is Skype's view on this recording??

There's currently no such feature in Skype. People have reportedly gotten it working with 3rd-party utilities, but similarly to you, we haven't looked into those in detail.

A very good idea!
Even if the file was largish, a choice to record certainly isn't rocket science, is it?
Is it going to be looked into?
Cheers,

First of all, there are regulations for recording calls and conversations. You should always check legislation if you are violating it or not.
Secondly, we do not officially support any recording software. If you use something, it is your own call.
Total Recorder is not compatible with Skype (listed in FAQ).
I've personally tried AV VCS GOLD Voice Changer Software Version 3.1.18 (Copyright © 2002-2004 Avnex Ltd (CY)), which seem to work for limited time. Use google to search for it.

thanks - I will gave that a try. But I am not looking forward to install all kinds of addiotnal software and utilities to do something 'simple'...
I think the original question was if Skype is considering to add a 'Record' button to the Skype software? That would be so much more elegant!
Many people have been asking about this record functionality, so what is Skype's perception of it?
Yes - I am aware there are many regulations for recording phone (and other) conversations. But, as you say, that would be the responsibility of the users, wouldn't it?
thanks,

It is possible to record using Audio Hijack Pro 2 which allows recording with any software.

Instead of voice recording why not convert voice to text?

probably for the same reasons IBM gave up working with ViaVoice... it just isn't as easy as you think... too many variations in tonality and idiomatic use. Incidentally... if u are a prgmr u can get a major chunk of the source code for viavoice... it has been given by IBM to be open source.

You can record a conversation with the sound recorder of Windows, but it is cumbersome, twice I had to restart my computer, and I don't know why, but in my case there is a time limitation of 60 seconds!
Search on the forum, with the keyword "audacity", wel her is the link also:
