Ezadin: I did install skype in mandriva 2007. But it did not appear in start menu.
You can set it on the desktop: right click on the desktop ,choose new-link to program, here you write "skype", then you click on the icon to the left and choose "other icon" and browse to the skype icon and click OK. then you go to the program fane at the top of the window and to the "command" field ,click browse then find the /usr/bin/ folder and find " skype" and select it, click open and OK to close the window and it's done. Now you can start skype from the desktop.

Gonz.. Hope it works on Asus Z71V laptop OK (+Q? will WiFi work on initial install?, I do not know how to add ipw.. yet to GNU/L distro from a M$ FAT32 partition). Lack cable connection for Inet.
1st must finish M07 DL though, as BitTorrent4 keeps stopping @ 4GB, not sure how to complete the last .x GB. TY d8d, Newbie Migrator (also trying Slack 11, Kubuntu 6 LTS, oSuse 10.2)

SNPD/EDTD Installed skype in mandriva 2007, not appearing in start menu. Must Set it on desktop: right click on desktop, choose new-link to program, type "skype", click on the icon to the left & choose "other icon", browse to skype icon, click OK. Go to the program fane (??) at the top of the window & to the "command" field, click browse, find the /usr/bin/ folder & find " skype", select it, click open and OK to close the window=done. Now you start Skype from the desktop!
BZ Gonz.. TY for the very easy to understand steps!

You can't have files larger than 4GB on Fat32 partition. You have to download on an M$ NTFS or Linux partition.
For the other question I'm not sure but I think you can set it up in M 2007 control center after installation if needed. If you have the linux driver on a floppy or usbkey you have now the possibility to use it in the M2007 installer. I hope this help or you have to check on Mandriva club forum (no need to be a member).
Here a link til M 2007 errata, there are something about IPW2200. http://qa.mandriva.com/twiki/bin/view/Main...error_detected_ .
