Greetings all.
I have what seems to be a bit of a weird problem here. I am running Gentoo 2006.1, with Skype 1.3.0.53, alsa-driver/lib 1.0.13, and a TerraTec DMX 6Fire 24/96 soundcard.

I am unable to get any audio input from the microphone. When attempting to call the test call service and speak, I don't get any audio back.

I have set this card and microphone up with appropriate capture settings with no problems. I am even able to use the call test in Ekiga, and can hear myself speak. Between Ekiga and Skype, no settings have been touched I get the same behavior whether Skype is set to use the card in ALSA mode, or via OSS emulation.

Thoughts/suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem on SUSE 10.0, unable to get a sound input from my microphone. I hear people but they don't. I tried with a test call service but I can not hear back my own voice. wondering what came wrong with the new Skype 1.3.0.53. I haven't had this problem with the old version. I haven't changed my sound setting either. If any one have aclue what could be and help, very much appreciated. Thanks in advance! -tes

Hi all
Well if I can get mic audio working in Ekiga, I think my sound settings
would be correct no?

Hi,

I think ALSA support is a bit broken with FC5 and Skype 1.3.0.53. I gave up and used the OSS support, which works just fine.

Near identical setup, but with ALSA 1.0.12 and Intel 82801DB-ICH4.

My microphone picks up sound since I can both listen live and record, but Skype seems to be either unable to pick it up or transmit it.

The problem did not exist prior to upgrade.

Cheers,
Martin

Since I've seen you quite religiously post this to various sound problems when browsing for a possible solution, I thought I'd just gently suggest three things. Firstly, don't provide solutions that presuppose certain software. Not everyone has the KDE tools, some don't want them. The tool that comes shipped with ALSA is standard so it is best to use that. Secondly, if you are going to post recommendations already given elsewhere (as is the case here) it might be better to provide a single link like RockHound did, rather than the huge graphic. Finally, you may want to pay closer attention to poster's problem descriptions. Since the microphone works in other applications, the settings are most likely correct.
