Full Version: Are there any constraints on the UI when using the API?

Can somebody please explain the following lines in the API License Terms:

"2.3. You will not remove, overtake, hide or otherwise make the UI inaccessible for users of Your Application and, more specifically, You will follow Skype’s the API Usage Guidelines related to the application design and the use and presentation of the UI."

Does our application have to simply launch Skype software or can we use the Skype functionality on the back-end without necessarily showing Skype on the user interface?

My interpretation is this.. it means that your software mustn't stop someone from using their locally installed Skype interface if they wish to do so.

spud5 is right -- it was forbidden to hack the Skype UI into oblivion. However this requirement was written well before anyone ever started to dream of the SET SILENT_MODE ON command appearing in Skype API, which actually made it into the latest Skype for Windows 2.6 beta. Legal docs will still take a bit of time to get updated.
