What is your internet connection?

What Antivirus and firewall(s) you use?

Does other side call to videoecho123 works well also?

Thank you for the information.

First of all.

Please call to user echo123 and then if this is succsessful to videoecho123 and report back your experience.

After that see if you have enabled also Windows firewall extra to Norton Internet security then disable it (you do not need 2 firewalls).

Thanks for your help. I have completed both exercises in your paragraph 1, successfully.

Regarding the Firewall situation - How do I know which Firewall/s are enabled and which should I turn off should they both be engaged? AND how do I disable the chosen Firewall? Many Thanks again for helping out - The Wing Commander

So test calls are working fine?

Norton firewall status you can see from Norton internet security.

Windows firewall from control panel > windows firewall.

Disable Windows one and try then again call with this other user.

Update - I have now found that two of the contacts I have been in touch with for a video call can see me clearly and with a good picture. However, my screen shows me in the bottom left hand corner but there is no reception of the other party in the larger screen which remains black. Sound is OK though sometimes breaks up. Further suggestions please Raul?? The Wing Commander.

I have even purchased a new camera, fully loaded with all the SKYPE necessities and still I do not receive any pictures from my SKYPE video friends, although they have first class reception of me on camera.. Can you tell me if this is all part of the problem I have been reading with the Version2.5 or am I still not doing the right thing here? Any help from anyone in the world would at least set my mind at rest that it is or isn't ME. Thanks for helping "The Wing Commander."

2.5 video problems were solved in later builds.

Disable Norton firewall for few minutes and make a call with you friends does it work?

Are you sure that your friends are broadcasting video?

Hi Raul, Have now completed the disconnection of Norton Test. Still the same I'm afraid - no picture of me on my friends screen! The Wing Commander.

It's bit confusing now.

Few posts back you said that they have clear reception of your picture and now you are saying that they do not see you.

How it is then?

Raul - my error for which I apologise. Scenario as follows: They have a very good video picture of me on their sctreens together with their smaller picture in the bottom left corner of their video screen. They also can hear me well - though sometimes a little less than perfect. However, for my part I have a BLACK video screen except for a small picture of myself in the bottom left corner of my video screen. I have also recently, used MSN Video and get a reasonable result with both other parties. I hope you're not too bored with this problem - Regards The Wing Commander.

Hi,
If I understand correctly then you do not see you contact (not receiving picture from the other side).
In this case the problem most likely resides on your contact's end not at problem with you setup. Please ask your contact to upgrade to 2.6 beta and try once more. Black screen problems with some devices are a known issue with 2.5. If the problem continues with 2.6 installed on the other side, please report back cause then we might need to investigate a bit further. You can contact me via PM too in that case. Thanks,
Peter

Hello. I'm in south eastern Australia. I talk to a friend regularly on Skype. We both have current well optioned computers using XP. Our computers are up to date with downloads, including the latest DirectX 9c. We recently started having video problems with the latest Skype 2.5. We both went back to earlier versions and that rectified the lack of video.
Seeing Skype Beta Version 3, we decided to download it and try it. If my friend calls me, she can see me but I can't see any video from her. If I call her it reverses. I can see her but she can't see me. We have the video options set correctly, including the camera type and the START VIDEO AUTOMATICALLY option.
We can test our respective cameras and they work fine.
Is this a bug in version 3 Beta?
Cheers,
Robert.

Hi Robert, Same problem here in UK which is frustrating as I have a daughter in Adelaide and a son in Sydney!! They can see us but we cannot see them and have not EVER!! Despite checks and downloads, set ups and set downs, rebooting and changing versions of Skype. What I'd like to do is to be able to download the version that everyone says worked well in video - at least it would show if it was me or the programme. Incidentally I also work well in MSN! Cheers, The Wing Commander.

Hi,

I am in Canada and as well my folks can see me everywhere, however when I am talking to Romania, there is no picture from them.
I would have thought that the firewall on the router might be the cause, however why the others can see me and only in Romania they cannot...
Any ideas?

Thank you!
