Can you open a terminal and type: sudo cat /proc/asound/cards to see if there is any sign of your phone has been detected?

/proc/asound/cards does not exist.
After inserting USB plug nothing really happens. No trace in logs that kernel detects any new hardware.
Any ideas or experience ?

I also have this phone, and so far have been unable to get it to work. Linux does seem to recognize the usb-sound system, and I can select the devices for in/output however, I can't get the phone to switch to skype mode since it seems to expect a contact list which is probably not sent by the linux skype implementation. Thus the sound devices are unusable. It seems that the system is very close to working, if only there would be a deamon/driver that provides the phone with the contact list...
Phone is working fine in Windows XP, but only after installing a philips provided driver.
regards, Mark.
