Hi.

Sometimes I'm chatting with friends and would like to have them see my camera image. To do that, I click the phone icon to initiate a call, then I click on the camera icon to start broadcasting the image. My question is if there is any other way to start broadcasting without clicking on the phone call icon.

Hi,

Main window / Contacts list.
Why not to click --> the little tiny blue cam icon <-- at top right instead of the phone icon at bottom ?

My sincerest apologies. I can't believe it I posted the same question twice in the span of a week! It was not my intention to spam the forum.

That is what I'd like, but my contact list does not have that cam blue icon. Instead I have a clock (history) and the dollar amount left on my skype out. Any ideas on how to add the cam blue icon?

Firstly select the Contact from the list to open his/her "card" with mood message.

Thanks. I had already done that. No such camera icon appears. The only icons I have when I open the card with the mood message are the upside triangle, the blue chat icon and the green phone icon. The "card" shows the message, the person's name, but no such icon as you kindly showed me in your original post. My camera is on (I have it set to start automatically), but the only way I get my friend to see the camera is if I call him/her. I wonder if there is some check mark I'm supposed to mark in the preferences, but I've gone through that, too.

P.S.: I wonder if it's because I'm using a USB camera here.

I guess that this cam icon is showed only when you and yours contacts have ticked --> the suitable option <-- in Skype Preferences / Video.

Btw are you using last 2.0.0.2 video beta available ?

Yes, I have the latest version, 2.0.0.2. As for the check mark you suggest, I bet that is the reason. Most likely the example I am looking at does not have a camera and, consequently, has not checked to allow contacts to see his/her camera.

In brief, I suppose the camera icon will only appear if the person I'm talking to has enable that option. I'm still left with no other choice to start my camera to him/her unless I use the call option.

Thanks for your patient assistance. I think this has cleared the issue. I'll wait to chat with someone who has a camera on so that I can verify whether the cam icon appears on my screen on not.

Thanks again.
