bah, I've gotten my share of spam messages (many from those online casinos), but could never pinpoint the source. Now a person using the Trial version has revealed the source to me.

For some reason, I don't think Skype sponsored this marketing software, yet it has the Skype name on it. Is Skype aware of this company?

I really hope Skype does something about this, because it's programs like these that killed the great ICQ base. I met so many interesting people on ICQ back in 1999-2000.

Re: Could this be called spamming?
We only send messages to "Skype me" mode users, that is, they accept any message or chatting invitations and their privacy policy is disabled in this mode. It is not spamming. So far, only email spamming is illegal.

That is why we developed this product.

stupid beep beeped beep beepin beep beeped beeps!

it sure as hell is spamming, for anyone who might consider downloading it.... the intention of skypeme mode is that you are skyped by humans, that is it's use, that is what people are agreeing to in agreeing to overide their security settings, they are not agreeing to recieving spam. spam on skype is just the same as spam on e-mail... hang on the site admin actually called their own stuff spam... note.."It is not spamming"...ok, so y then hell does he then go on to write "So far, only email spamming is illegal."...implying the very intention of this product is to spam... there is the obvious implication that he sees his own product as spamming and is aware of it. ... i too hope skype will do something about this.... leaving your door open (setting skypeme mode) so you can talk to friendly passers by (other genuine skype users) does not mean you are inviting someone to burgle you (spam you in the case of skype)..... and yes many people do leave their doors open (something that happens a lot typicaly in the first week of uni in student dorms so that people can get to know each other)

So does Skype going to ever do anything about this? Or do they endorse a third party profiteering off their program they made?

I've been getting increased spam from stupid online casinos. and the spam I get isn't even in English most of the time.

So they dug out the definition of spam. perhaps we should go to the United Nations to rewrite the definition of spam.
