I am constructing a plugin for MediaPortal which allows users to access SkypeChat (not voice) (yet!) while watching movies/TV/etc.

I have a friend who has a Skype Dual Phone which he really likes, but if my SkypeChat plugin is running, he can't see the list of online users on the phone, and therefore can't initiate a Skype voice call. Calls coming in are fine.

Is this a known problem/feature?

Is there just something I haven't read about this somewhere?

The plugin uses the ActiveS wrapper dll

The API supports multiple connections. I have no problems with DualPhone plus one commercial plugin, plus my own plugin. I now use the official Skype4COM wrapper, but I've also used ActiveS in the past without problems.

Thanks for the response...

I gave him a new version of the plugin, without doing anything to fix this particualr problem, and it doesn't seem to have the problem. It may have been something about his set up, not the plugin.

Thanks anyway...

Hi there,

I am using a DUALPhone and it works fine, however I told a friend about it and he has installed it and it wont talk to Skype, I have identified the problem, the API plug-in for DUALPhone has not been added in the privacy settings >> manage other programes... section of skype. I have reinstalled both the latest Dualphone 2.18 and Skype 2.5..0.141 ..... skype first and then the dual phone. Still no Joy. I have talked with Dualphone who told me to repeat the above process... still not working. They also told me to delete the config.xml from skype before re-installing. This I have not done because the skype account is not mine and i dont want to loose his contacts list (which is what dualphone said would happen). Is there anyway I can get skype to add the DualPhone API manually. (you mentioned sending someone a new version of the plugin...).

Any ideas suggestions would be welcome smile.png

thanks fo rthe input...

I might be on the wrong track here but as the plugin does not show up in Skype and there is no option to add a plugin I am thinking there must be a way to install one?? Where can i download the plugin for dualphone? Dualphone seem to think its a skype issue....

You can't manually add the Dualphone reference to Skype. When Dualphone attempts to connect, Skype will show a dialog box. If this hasn't happened (ie. the Manage API window is empty) then Skype hasn't seen the Dualphone trying to connect.

Follow the actions in the other thread and try to eliminate each possible cause.

Just for the record - my plugin is a plugin for MediaPortal (Free open source Media Centre software from http://www.team-mediaportal.com), not for Skype itself. However it does connect to Skype using the same mechanism under the hood, of course...
