When connecting my Panasonic camcorder GS280 to my PB G4 10.3.9 using the Firewire cable the video is working fine with iChat but the Skype (1.5.0.77) window says "No camera connected" (= black).

How can I fix this problem?

After playing around with some of the settings yesterday after posting my problem above it suddenly worked. I'm not sure exactly what made it work but I do know now that connecting the camcorder works great and apparently the picture was excellent as well. It even recognized the camcorder model number.

Many thanks to a great SW applicaiton.

Good to hear that your problem is solved.

I was having a similar problem with my Sony FireWire miniDV camera. Sometimes, if it went to sleep, I just had to turn it off and on again.

Other times I had to exit Skype and turn on the camera before restarting Skype.

Other times, it just worked!

The latest preview version is pretty stable. I think they're getting close.

I just got an iSight today (from eBay) and there seems to be no problem so far.
