In the API roadmap pdf from the developers conference in june (on page 20) it states that "Multiple input and output destinations may be used".

I want to know when skype is planning to release a beta for this, and how I can get more info. For example if I have a linux-based system with several potential skype client applications, will they all be able to make (concurrent) skype calls using /dev/my_devices instead of /dev/dsp ? I don't want any sound to go to the 'normal' speaker/microphone - I want to route the sound to/from my application. Possible?
