Hi,

We have received our test SMC WiFi phone and after the initial software upgrade are quite pleased with performance... a full review will be available before the end of the week... anyway, since we are not sure what demand will be for the product we are debating how many to order in our inital batch..

So, if you are wanting the SMC WiFi phone, please send me a PM (private message) and list the price you would like to pay and what country it would be shipped to... This way we can find out if we need to buy 5-10-or 500 phones.

Thanks!

without a doubt this is a must have kinda device for how we want to use Skype...but a couple things...

1. PRICE...phones are cheap and they work.
2. The battery life is not what I would expect for a cordless phone.
3. I see the only way to charge mentioned is via USB...what is the point of that for a device that is supposed to eliminate the need to turn on a PC?

I would not be willing to pay over $20 for such a device. Here in the US there are simply not currently enough open WiFi hotspots/networks that are freely accessible to make this a viable portable option. Though in my town our public city owned WiFi is supposed to go live....again...within a couple weeks so it might be usefull here in town...but again I see no need to pay over $20 for this device.

Otherwise I think this is a must have device within the next few years...to me it's the logical extension of Skype and the web...

I would buy it to use around the house. The point is not haning to have the computer on to use Skype. Also, easier to use for non-technicians. I will buy one of these or the Belkin, whichever becones available first.

It should have dedicated charger - what's the point of usb charging?

Hi,

We should have inventory by Mid-Late September... the test SMC unit we received has both USB and wall socket recharger.
