hy to all !
do you think that to re install directx9c has to do with the stability of the video ? it sometimes stop to work after 30 minutes without any problem, or just if you turn off skype and start it again some later. i met the problem with the 2.5 also ( no video anymore ), that s why i m trying the preview one. another question / is it normal that skype takes so much energy with the video on ? i don't meet the problem with Orange link (even though it s not that stable either to be used in good conditions ..wink.png thanks for your answers ...by the way ..;i m french so if you could be not much tecnical in english that would be really great wink.png

Yes, DirectX9C has to do with Skype Video

Yes, it's normal that the CPU load is high when Skype Video is enabled. First because it has to calculate and show the video output, second since every communication in Skype is double encrypted, this takes extra CPU load, too!

thanks nafcom for answers. the point wasn't if it's normal that the video takes extra cpu ...but why so much with skype espacially ? my question was a wish for a more powerfull program/ about direct x , i already have direct x9c installed on my pc since long ...what about the need to re-install it again ? sorry for misunderstanding

You are welcome! smile.png
By the way: Microsoft releases a new updated DirectX 9C package (Redistributable) almost every month. So, updating is worth it smile.png

As I already explained. Skype is already very powerful and the difference between Skype and others is, that Skype has encrypted (=protected communication) for everrything you do (Text, voice, video, file transfer), this costs CPU power.

They release a new DirectX 9C almost every month, so here is the latest

Also be sure to use the latest Skype 2.6 version (a beta relased the day before yesterday), they release a new version almost every couple of weeks and maybe the latest version fixes your problem with losing video after 30 minutes.
If it's still not fixed, please file a bug report.

No need to apologize smile.png
If you need more help/have more questions, feel free to ask smile.png

Hello to everybody, I live in Italy.
I currently use Skype and MSN Messenger (the lastest versions) and I realized that the video and sound quality of MSN is better than Skype! The Skype audio have many background noises and the video images have green background and poor quality. What do you think about?

Either the system reqirements are not matched, or you are experienceing a bug in Skype 2.6 (since you posted in the beta forum here).

In the 2nd case, file a bug report, please

You are welcome.

Bug reports can be filed in English only. And your English appears to be good, so go on, this will help you and other users to get more webcams supported and bugs ironed out.

Hi everybody!

I had installed skype version 2.5.090 and it was working very good. Today I upgrated to the version 2.6 and when received a call, my computer was simply "killed". System slowdown and I cannot even close the program without CTRL+ALT+DELETE.

I'm using split cam, before using that I had anologues problem also with skype 2.5.090, but now even splitcam could not fix the problem.

If someone can help, please replay...

The best,
xorxe
