Hello all!

I have read MANY topics here trying to find a sollution to my problem. But it seems that all sollutions are related to ALSA, i could not find a sollution for OSS users.

Some info:
I have a Fedora Core 4 with all the lattest updates. I use KDE 3.5 with arts (OSS).
My MB is a A7N8X-X, with nforce2 chipset and audio onboard, so I installed the official nvidia nforce linux driver (v. 3010).
I didn't managed to install ALSA, and I think ALSA will not use the official nforce driver, is it correct? Anyway, that is not a question for this forum, let's go to skype thing.

The problem:
Skype 1.3 works. When I say work, it means it start, it connect and it makes calls. But the sound is very strange. The girl in echo123 has a funny voice, and the same for my voice when it returns from echo123.

I have read many suggestions here, and found out that running Skype with "artsdsp -m skype" would help. Well... I did it, and now the girl does not have a funny voice anymore, it is working very fine in fact. BUT my microphone does not work anymore, I can't hear anything in return in echo123. Following suggestion in another threads, I tried to put mic boos (in nvmixer), put mic in max volume, installed aumix, and nothing solved my problem.

Oh, and btw, console "record" works fine, and I listen myself in the phones, so mic is working fine. The problem is in Skype or arts (or both, who knows). Any suggestion??

Thanks

Cristian

I made a "downgrade"to version 1.2.x and i get exactly the same problem.
The issue is not related to 1.3 beta.

Aaaarrggg...

Installed ALSA (sound quality now is VERY POOR in amaroK because of that), but still have the SAME problem: no mic!

Try installing aumix and set iGain to 100%.

Installed aumix, put Igain... Now I can hear my voice in echo123, but the sound quality is very poor.

Came back to say that i fiexed it.

I removed all my ~/.kde folder... but not because of skype, because keybnoar stoped to work in kde lol...

And now skype is working!
