I have the problem that I see my contacts offline while they are connected, I can chat or call them but they appear to me offline.
Sometimes the problems fixes it self but it is veryproblematic to me.

If anyone knows the reason or can help me I would be very gratefull.

Did it start with version 2.5.0.113? In my case, it did.

this has nothing to do with your client version or platform. p2p presence sometimes just lags.

my practical recommendation is that if you want to talk to someone who appears offline, you should "ping" them via IM -- this forces a presence update.

Hi

I upgraded Skype to 1.3.0.30 and I detected this problem. In previous version this worked fine.

It is disappointing because I suspect that my contacts see me offline, althougt I am "on-line".

The workaaround is obvious but not very useful.

I'm using Suse 9.3. Wich Linux distro are you using?

Hi:

I solve the problem!

It not was an Skype problem.

It was a routing problem.

I'm using Skype in a laptop and I need to change my network configuration when I visit customers.

The laptop has two network interfaces: wireless and ethernet. In my office I use wireless NIC to access the Internet and ethernet one to access to internal (private) network, that has an strong firewall.

There was a problem with wireless last friday and I changed laptop routing table to use internal network proxy. Somewhere (laptop, proxy), Skype network traffic was blocked.

On Monday I didn't remenber undo the change, and the Skype problem come up.

I discovered the problem checking Suse firewall messages:

SFW2-OUT-ERROR IN= OUT=eth0 SRC=192.168.1.10 DST=198.173.5.35 LEN=52 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=64 ID=43361 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=26787 DPT=80 WINDOW=2198 RES=0x00 ACK FIN URGP=0 OPT (0101080A00DDF6E622D95E23)

That's all!

Advice: check your firewall.

hello,

i have the same problem (and some more of my friends do have). i posted a new topic, because all mentioned solutions did not work and the help stopped somehow. but this is really a problem.

and ppmotskula, it has something to do with the version you are using!
if i use the latest 2.0-version, everything is working fine... if i use skype 2.5.0.122, the offline-online-hell is staring over again.. wink.png

for further things, look to my other topic http://forum.skype.com/viewtopic.php?p=271187

it might be a problem with the routing and firewall thing, but if so many people having the same problem, we should try to find a solution. my firewall is SuSe Firewall2, running on an routing pc connected to the internet.

yours, mike.
