In this day & age of identity theft, one's date of birth is one key to identity that should not be available to the general public. The profile should at least show age rather than date of birth. In fact, age rather than DOB would probably be sufficient in the profile.
Of course, those of us who are mildly paranoid, probably justifiably so, can enter a fake DOB, for example, just entering Jan 1 and the real or a near year.
