Dear Skype Staff:

How about adding a feature that allow you to keep your username for
longer than 72 hours w/o having to keep logging in? [Pardon me if
this plan already exist.] You could add a feature: if a person has more
than 5 euro (or whatever amount you want) in the account, then that
person log name last for 90 days (or whatever length you want).

This idea would be a win-win plan. Users have a choice of keeping log
name longer w/o logging in, and more people are encourage to buy credits.

What do you think of this plan?

If this is really there that would be very STUPID
What happens if you go for a few days off in the wilds with no Internet?
I don't beleive it, so I am going to search for it now and see how it is really the case.

Your username is kept for longer than 72 hours (at the moment this means forever). What happens in 72 hours (not hard limit - may fluctuate) is that you may not show up in search results. Search results show people who have recently been online. "Recently" fluctuates around a few days. However, after you have not used your Skype name for many days or months, you can still come back and log on with it.

Then one followup question.

If you log on, and then hasn't used Skype for over
72 hours, can someone else grab your username?

No. Usernames can only be grabbed when the attacker knows your password. So pick a secure password.
