HI,

Does anybody know if there is any skype client light available for Linux?
I mean some type of skype client without video functions to be installed in a PC with less than 128 MB RAM

a software that wants to run on everyones computers around the world all the time needs to be lean. If extra functionality is needed it should be downloadable as an extension. skype is becoming too bloated, and that doesn't bode well for its future.

I agree it takes up way too much memory. wondering.png

There was something about naked skype in the net - I don't know what happens with this project. Also in the platform road map there are ideas to be able to chat(and maybe even call) from web and as far as I understood the text even without the client is installed (may be with some browser plugin - don't know).

So it seems that in the future everyone will be able to create his own GUI. Don't know if this will reduce the memory usage - actually I doubt.

About the memory usage - even the os doesn't run on less than 512mb(I mean vista) - so it's time for upgrade - even I have 256 mb smile.png
