Hi all,
I intend to create a new device(hardware) to be integrated to Skype and I have a doubt to take with you.
I have read the API´s documents and I don´t know if I understood how to communicate to Skype.
Do I have to use the API´s to connect to Skype client(installed on Windows, MAC ou Linux) or I can connect directly to Skype server? Do I have to use Skype client as a gateway to access Skype Server?
I ask that because I want to developer a new device to communicate to skype and use the Skype features, but I don´t want to include a Operation System inside the hardware to support the API´s.

The current API works against the Skype Client, so you have to have one installed.

Well, there is a central server for authentication, but it is not used for communication between different Skype clients. And it's only possible to log in using a Skype Client.

Hi Peeter,
Thank you for your support. I need to take a litle bit more of you time to understand the communication between the clients
You told me the Skype Server there is only for logging in and after that the communication follow between the clients.
After I logged in if I ring somebody up using Skype, Do the communication passes through the Server or only between the clients ?
For instance, If I am using Skype inside my personal network and I have to clients calling each other. After logged in the Skype Server, Is going to the communication be only inside my personal network? Please, consider I am not using video, only audio.
Peeter, Are you available to talk to me via Skype? If so, What is the better to you? Consider the time here in Brazil is -3GMT.
Regards,
Marco

My current timezone is GMT+3, and I much prefer to handle such issues either via forum or Jira. Private Skype calls and chats do not benefit the whole community.
Communication between two Skype clients is direct or -- if both of the clients are behind NAT -- goes through a third Skype client that acts as a supernode. Read
