Unfortunately you can't get your contact Skype version.

What answer should be given if the user is a) offline or b) online in multiple locations with different versions and different operating systems?

It is possible we could store the most recently used version in the user profile.

a) when offline should be the last version it has used.

b) how can we be online with 2 differents version of skype at the same time ?

What happen if you have skype 1.0 and skype 2.0 and the person starts a video chat ?

The GET_VERSION API should probably work the same, IMO.

This feature request has been added to Jira also long time ago - https://developer.skype.com/jira/browse/SPA-35

Please refer to the Jira issue when looking for further updates because Jira is the official source of getting help from Skype staff.

I will keep my eye on that case and make sure it gets enough attention from the developers, but currently I can not give any timeline for when it might get implemented.

I already asked for news on jira, and since I got no feedback I decided to ask again on the forum.

The version data would be helpful and it's not likely to affect privacy, so I've added my vote to Jira.

This feature request has been in the air for a long time by now. Skype security people are asking for good usercases and without them there won't be any development for sure. So, I'm asking you to go to Jira (SPA-35) and add your usercase if you think that this feature is important and then it would be my job to push this case further. Thank you!
