Hey I was just running through the dev blogs for any shred of linux related news and found a post from a couple weeks ago regarding opening up the skype engine so that open source GUIs could be written. I think considering Skype clearly has no intent of updating their Linux client before Duke Nukem Forever is released this might be the next best thing (or, depending on the community's adoption, even better)

Check it out and leave a comment to let them know were are interested: http://share.skype.com/sites/devzone/2006/...skype.html#more

i don't give a shiiit bout ppmotskula's teleporter fantasies. he's been telling so much oportunistic bullsh-|-t here in the linux-forum, and clearly refused to post one single bulletproof statement bout what's on with the alleged betatest. these guys are talking nonsense&fiction&bullgenerated fertilizer there, while in this forum the obscure terminuz/terminus not even dares to poll his PM invoices for betatester-status (last 5 months!!!).

skype is such a pile of S-H_I-T for all aspects of his CRM to linux users - i might consider to check out the buggy client for some useful vulnerabilities (there are some!).

this stupid yaggedeeyag (ignoring every previous habit/policy/"EULA" of skype) on above mentioned forum is clearly a slam in the face of anyone trying to get an answer to the bugfix/next-rev/roadmap issue with skype/linux.

i stopped using skype late last year (why skype - there's SIP) - must be masochist to read this forum still today :-(

But clearly the fact that there are so many skype users out there is reason enough to hope for some sort of functional client on linux, be it community written or written by the skype people. I use gizmo for the people that are willing to switch but for many of my co-workers, skype is all they need and they are hardpressed to fit another little icon in their windows system trays :-D
