Hello with all. Siemens has just left its new compatible telephone dect voip ( http://gigaset.siemens.com/shc/0,1935,be_f...NrNrNrN,00.html ). Best in this history, one is not obliged to leave his PC to call in voip. Maintaining the question that I am posed: is this phone compatible with skype? The engineering department in Belgium as their importer are unable to answer me. If you have this telephone, that do you think about it?
Thanks for your answer

What is the C450 Setup that is necessary to get the phone to work through Skype? Is this possible with a phone that connects to the router and not through USB?

Nope!

Dear Mr. Uniquex,

You are sure that the Siemens C450 IP phone is not compatible with skype? Could you explain technically why, I have quickly browsed through the manual and there is no reference to skype. Has it to do with the codec of skype that is not into the ethernet interface box that comes with the telephone?

Thanks for your help.

>>> You are sure that the Siemens C450 IP phone is not compatible with skype?

I'm quite sure. I bought one, because the seller told me it was compatible. I was not able to configure it for Skype

I searched in Google many times and found no answer on how to configure the gigaset for Skype, everywhere is stated, that the Gigaset isn't compatible with Skype... I should have searched befor buying it sadsmile.png

>>> Could you explain technically why, ...

Because the Siemens Gigaset VoIP uses SIP and Skype doesn't

The Siemens C450 / C460 IP phones are not skype compatible. They are based on the SIP protocol, and not designed to work with Skype's proprietory protocol. Search for sip providers on the net, you'll find loads.

This is the real bottle neck of Skype: to not be hardware compatible with standard SIP phones.

I cannot imagine people already equipped with a SIP phone buying a [Skype + msn + yahoo + ....] phones.
This is totally confusing.

A solution should be found.
