Nop, the G5 does not come with mic built in. You've got to have the isight and it's great but not to talk to PC friends

my company is really waiting for skype to be released on mac. i do hope they will manage to build a version for us.
indeed, do you know ophoneX? with it you can make calls between mac/pc easily, but like ichat, quality is far from skype

Around July 2, toivo reported that we might see a July 22 release date. Assumedly this was to match or preceed the Skype 1.0/SkypeOut release.

I've been checking every day for a week because I'm sick of shackling myself to the PC in my basement. I want skype. I want to pay for skypeout. I want to use it on my mac. Hook me up, people!

I think that the Mac OS users are lucky, they are aware that SkypeTeam increases the price without announcing anything beforehand...

Ok folks. please no thread hijacking. We want the skype software released on the mac. We want to know when we can see a beta. Skypout rates are being discussed everywhere on this board, and I frankly could care less about a 6 cent rate jump. (I've been ripped of by other VOIP providers before....It's just a cost of doing business for us early adopters)

I just want to see the software. I want to use it on my PowerBook from Starbucks. I like Skype on windows, and want to use it on my mac. Any news, folks? Please, mods. Give us a hint.

I heard in around 2 months Skype Mac Beta will be released. I think one of the staff said this in another thread.

Yes. I've seen that post. It's 2 months old. There's also a post that indicates that a beta would have been release last thursday. Feel free to read the posts I linked to above.

I'd still like to see a moderator or staff respond.

I'd think it would rather help if the Skype team would be open with us about this, rather than the hunt for information/search/check back later scene that is going on. How about a SkypeMac web page which we can check back for official updates? How about a mailing list so we don't have to come back until it's ready? How about a critical bug counter ("5 bugs til release!"). I don't mind waiting. I understand how the development process works. I just want info and accountability. (I know another vendor that has been taking pre-orders for a product for 12 months, and it still says 'real soon now' on the page) Open information will keep us excited and prevent us from being bitter. Closed process just makes us suspicious that it's not a priority.
