I have read the forums now for a good while, so I'd like to point out, that I'm a n00b in linux, that's why I'm using UHU-Linux (simple to use fully hungarian languaged linux for beginners). UHU-linux has an unofficial Skype package at
http://uhu.linux.hu/1.2/sari.gabor/shntool....3-1.2_i386.uhu
It's a standard deb package, its just renamed to .uhu for some reason. Dunno why, but it realy works for me, I never had any problems (except that I can't use skype voice talk while any other sound application is running, like voice recognition or xmms, but from my tiny linux knowledge I think it's becouse of the lack of ALSA support in skype).
And about the skype linux developement... I realy hate ebay, that they are focusing now on windows (btw. it's on unrecognised bug in skype for windows that made me to change from windows to linux, so support for windows is a pile of shit too), and as far as I've read the linux community can be real angry, that it hasn't got an update now for 6 months, but maybe the new blog is a little step forward. i can understand those, who spend money on skype, and don't want to spend any more couse the lack of supportt on skype for linux, but I'm optimistic: be patient, something will come out sooner or later... time will tell wether I was right or wrong, so don't flame on this.
Maybe I could help a bit with this package, it realy works for me.
