AA) Each SMS has a status that you see in the right lower corner of the sms icon in history tab. There are 3 statuses for sms. First is pending which is when no confirmation of arrival has been sent from the mobile network you sent the sms to. When the sms arrives you'll get a green check mark status meaning delivered. If not delivered for about a day you'll get the failed status with a red !, in this case you get the money back.
BB) If you are having trouble ONLY on SMS messaging The problem is likely with the gateway providers not on your setup.

I have sended 3 SMS to my own mobile (Tele2 Sweden) and I have them in my mobile within a minute. But Skype keeps the status pending for a day and then changes to red.
So that function is not working. When using the Swedish robert.se doing the same thing everything works so it looks to be a bug here in skype.

Same with Halebop/Vodafone, turns to red after about a day and money returns, even though the SMS has got there (maybe i shouldnt tell?
Works with Comviq, changes to Green after some hours.

Skype 2.5.0.72 - sms message was sent and received ok, within a couple of seconds. However the status stuck at "pending" and the message was resent by the system about 10 hours later. After this the status on the message history was then correctly set.
This "feature" seems to vary depending on which network the message was sent. I'm in the UK. Vodoafone and T-Mobile seemed to have a problem, but that may be coincidence.

Hi,
How does Skype handle the statuses of texts to multiple recipients? I just sent one to 9 people and recieved a "sent" status almost instantly. I'm willing to bet (but can't confirm) that it went to sent on reciept of the first message. Any elaboration on that?
Furthermore, it would be handy to know who has got it and who hasn't... suppose that's more of a suggestion.

I just tried this in the UK sending the same message (multiple destinations) to two mobile phones (both Vodafone) one was switched on and the other was switched off.
After the message arrived on the the (live) mobile the skype sms status changed to "pending". When I switched on the second mobile the mesage was received and the sms status of the originating changed to "sent".

I'd like to keep SMS history, but after closing any "Skype (BETA) SMS" window the history for that number is lost. I have no idea where to switch it on/off, but at the bottom right corner of the window there is "History on". So they should be kept IMO.

SMS )and all other) events are in history.
Make sure you ticked in 'view' view Addressbar-->thwen go to history-->in botton LHS you will see a down arrow-->click on that-->selects SMS (all all)-->and SMS history is shown.
I think you will find they are held for 60 days (maybe 90) then deleted

I see... like the call log, each SMS is opened in its own window. I could not find anything in menu like for usual chat communication, now I understand. Thanks
What about displaying all (stored/held) SMS messages belonging to one SkypeOut contact together in one SMS window, like it is while writing multiple SMS messages? To keep the message flow like during chat? And when clicking on one SMS in global history, maybe to scroll to this SMS in contact's SMS window (just like opening the normal chat histories)...
(Only a question for the future development. Keep the good job.)

On Skype Beta 2.5.0.82
I get no history or none that I can find.
Also if I click on the little blue icon, I get invalid number, but I know if I just wait the text gets sent. I have peoples mobile numbers entered directly in as they do not have skype or mobile in their skype profiles.

Hi,
I'm sorry to ask such a basic question, but I didn't see this answered anywhere in the Skype SMS Beta Guide. I haven't installed Skype 2.5 beta yet, and I would prefer not to use beta software unless it offers a really useful feature. That really useful feature would be sending and receiving SMS's via Skype.
But if I can't receive responses to my messages, it's not worthwhile for me to install Skype 2.5 beta. So can someone help me out with this information?
Thanks,
Danny

any thoughts/comments/ideas?

I've tried very hard to persuade my friends and colleagues to
post their cell phone numbers in their Skype personal data, then I
have no problem to click either phone number to reach them if they
are not online.
The problem is how I can choose between (or among) those different
cell phone numbers if I want to send them SMS instead?

I agree. There are dozens of ways to send SMS for free. Skype should be able to meet that price.

Hello GLADIATOR
Ok, how do I add a provider to my setup so I can send them SMS from Skype ?
Such as T-mobile & Virgin Mobile.
Both are prepaid cell phones in USA same as me.
Is it a separate subject: sending pictures and video: T-mobile calls it MMS
(multimedia messages) and I can send pix & video from my cell (T-mobile) to my son's (Virgin).
Is there a method of doing the same from Skype ? Via SMS ?
Is there an instruction page somewhere in Skype.com to send MMS to a call ?

With Skype the mobile phone receiving the messages needs to be connected to the network. If not, the message will not arrive. Something you can not chack with sending an SMS mesasge with your mobile.

Hello!
I need some HELP with SMSing too.
I have the latest version of Skype, have put the credit on in hope I+ll be able to send SMS to my friends in Libya. They are all using Libyana mobile provider.
The first two days things were doing GREAT and they got all my SMSs in few minutes which made me very happy. :)
Now, since yesterday I have problems :( SMSs are not sent and they keep having pending status. :(
Yesterday I sent 4 and one one came, though it still has pending status. :s
I tried to sent one to my mobile (Slovenia) and I got SMS right away.
Does anyone has any suggesstions what might be wrong and what could I do to make it work again!
I didn't pay for something I can't use, though was working well the first two days.
For every SMS the money goes from my credit as well and I don't know either the recipient got it or not :(
Any help is MORE than welcome!
P.S: I also authorised my mobile number as it was suggested in some other Skype forum and it doesn't help either :(
Thank you for all your help!
Regards, Katie

Please submit a ticket to Customer Support to solve your problem and add as many as possible details and telephone numbers.
Replies to Support Tickets can take a minimum of 2 working days and probably longer because they might need to contact the mobile providers too.
For submitting Support Tickets you need to click the submit button twice. The second time is after you are directed to the page where you are advised to browse the FAQ first.
After submitting the second time you need to receive a confirmation.
Check your SPAM settings and the SPAM folder at the server to receive mails from Skype.
If you have done all this and still no reply from Support, please PM (Private Message) me the date you sent your ticket, your username and I will forward to Support.

I m having the same problem, yet I am in Canada. I have tried sending an SMS to numbers at multiple different service providers, and it always gets stuck on pending. I have more than sufficient credit on my skype account, and no credit is getting removed when I attempt to send the sms. All the numbers were within the 519 area code.

Hi
Thank you for your post, moderator. Very interesting and takes me part way to solving my problem with Skype texting.
But I have a situation where I have the pending icon against a text that I sent and it has stayed like that for over a month.
My big problem is that because it was my first time using Skype texting I accidentally sent it to all my saved mobile numbers (3 of them), one in UK (where the text was supposed to go), one in USA and one to my wife's mobile that is currently sitting unused in Japan. The text was sent successfully to the UK address. But there is a pending icon against the text quoting the USA and Japan mob numbers.
But I don't *want* this text to go out to the Japan number. That would be a personal disaster for me! I want to know whether the text *will* ever go to the mobile in Japan. If there is any chance of this I will have a huge personal problem to deal with and will have to travel to Japan to sort it out!
All I want to know is whether there is *any* chance this text (to Japan) could ever be delivered.
I've been raising this issue with the support@skype.net people and they have treated my shockingly. After answering a couple of times in ways that showed they had not read my email they have since then been systematically ignoring me. I also asked for their official complaints policy (so I could complain about them) and they won't even give me that. I am tearing my hair out.
Can you help?
Thank you. David

Hi all,
I have tried to change the sender numbers for my skype SMS service. After a few failed attempts I managed to get the code work. Something must have gone wrong, because the system is still sending me hundreds of SMS messages on my mobile with verification codes.
I have posted a support ticket almost 20 hours ago and still got no help... does anyone know a way to escalate this problem? this is costing me a fortune!

Wish I had an answer other than to turn off the phone, Matteo. skype's SMS system seems to be on again off again. Today I tried to "verify" my US Sprint mobile number so the SMS From would show it instead of my Skype name. No luck. The verification message has not gotten from Skype to my mobile for the past hour for whatever reason.
Then I tried sending an SMS from Skype to my mobile. It hasn't come through either, even though the call log indicated it was sent.
Hope the Skype problems with SMS get cleared up. I get SMS msgs to my mobile several times a day with no problem, so it isn't on Sprint's end.
