I'm doing an install with Suse 9.1, which has Qt 3.3 running, but i treturns this:

rpm -i skype-0.90.0.3-1.i386.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
qt >= 3.2 is needed by skype-0.90.0.3-1

seems puzzling, especially given the apparent success of some on this forum to get skype to install on Suse 9.0.

Any suggestions?

You're using an old version. Go to the download page and download the most recent RPM for Suse.
