Full Version: Cannot get Logitech USB 2.0 headset to work on Fedora Core 5

I am running FC5 kernel 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5 #1 and am not able to get my Logitech USB headset to work correctly. Firstly, I installed the skype-1.2.0.18-fc3.i586.rpm

Basically when I plug in my headset into my Dell Inspiron 6000 USB port, the blue light on the headset continually keeps flashing. If I change the Tools/Options/Hand/Headsets to /dev/dsp1 in the Skype software I can hear the voice coming through into my headset but my voice does not go through (i.e. people on the other line cannot hear me).

I have tried doing the following as well but it did not help:
1) Unplugged my USB headset
2) after logging in as root issued the command rmmod -f snd_intel8x0 snd_ac97_codec
3) replugged the Logitech headset in

Same problem, blue light on the headset keeps on flashing and my voice does not go through.

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas. I would really like to continue to use Skype on my Linux laptop and not have to go back to Windows.

Thanks:

-Sam

If this is like the Logitech model 350, that flashing light is a button that is used to mute and unmute the mike. You press it, it stops flashing, and you can talk. If it's not like that, pardon my error :-)

No, that blinking blue light is not a button, rathar if it blinks means something is wrong.

What model is the headset then?

Ok, I think I got it to work by just increasing the volume on the headset.
I think the flashing light meant it was mute.

I got to try it out a few times to make sure though.

I bought the Logitech 350 headset about a week ago and it worked great took me a few days to get to know what the blue light even was. I had it working for a few days then unpluged it to use my desktop speakers then pluged it back in later after taking my desktop speakers back out. Ever since then I havent gotten my blue light to blink or anything... seems as thought the blue light isnt even there anymore. I have restarted my computer many times and unpluged and pluged the USB in/out several times. Anyone else have this problem or know what I might be missing? sadsmile.png lipssealed.png
