I don't have a taskbar, and the status icon therefore has its own window. This is quite annoying. Could it be made possible to turn the taskbar icon off?

Although the taskbar icon is still displayed in a window in the new v0.91.0.3 even if you don't have a taskbar, I have found that until this problem is fixed there is a nice workaround: just close the window. Doesn't seem to have any ill effects. (Of course, you have to close the window with the window close button or equivalent, as using the "Close" menu item quits Skype; if any Skype folk are reading this post, please could that be changed to "Quit" as it's a bit misleading.)

You shouldn't draw anything until _NET_SYSTEM_TRAY_* is present.
