Is it me or is it true? Since eBay bought skype there has been no new releases for the linux world, Has eBay dumped the linux users? Is eBay still developing skype for Linux too or is it all over for the linux community?

I hope I am wrong.

Skype have confirmed they are still developing for Linux and they are partnered with Xandros for their Surfside product release.

They say that they are still developing skype for Linux, but nobody knows if this is only a myth or might be true.
Perhaps your children or grandchildren will have the privilege to experience the release of a new version of skype ...

Don't listen to what people say, look at what they do. Skype has done nothing with Linux. Therefore we know they aren't developing it. It's like when someone promises to ring you and then they never do. They don't say you've been dumped, but you have.

Linux users have been quite simply been dumped.

I read about 'talented programmers' fixin all the issues for linux (since more than 2 years) --- Since I dont think this will ever work on linux, and it will not be open source, so the community can fix your problems, I suggest we all go wengophone.
I'm tryin skype since a few days and I'm annoyed by all that arrogance and ignorance. This is concerning the posts of the staff as well, as the homepage. Skype indeed does not work correkt linux. But ok, let them keep on sitting on their not working code and think thei're cool. I go wengophone: working, faster and SYMPATIC

what is SYMPATIC with a softphone, which forces user to register with a specific commercial sip-provider even to have the sw started???

ever tried to use wengo for your web.de-account + 1&1-account + sipgate-account (same time)? even without signing with some company i don't need or at least like.

i think wengo is nearly more evil than skype, when it comes to compamy policies. turning open standard SIP into a trap catching customers for french sip-provider. with the help of open source community - i don't understand this.

Is it comming? when? what will be new in it?

If you looked at the current development of wengophone, you would notice that the top priority feature being implemented is the ability to use other sip providers with wengophone.

hey, really great! wengophone is learning NEW FEATURES by DELETING parts of the CODE!
that's absolutely outstanding. every SIP client by design & per definitionem being able to connect with every SIP provider, and now SIP wengophone has top priority FEATURE _implemented_ not to block this inherent ability any more. must have been a hell to specify and code this! wink.png

how long will it take till this really revolutionary improvement ready to ship?
 ;-)
maybe wengo company should consider to host the CVS server, and every user has to register with wengo to gain access?
