I puchased SkypeOut today and and can not dial out to a land line phone. The message says it's an invalid Skype name or number. Please try again. I have tried many valid numbers with the same result. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you.

From/to which country are you dialing? Please post an example of the phone number format you are using (no need to reveal actual phone numbers). For example, in the US the required format is +16315551234 and not something like 16315551234 or (631)5551234 or 631-555-1234.

I think I've latched on to the problem. The instructions say I must start with a "+" but when I click on the + all I get is a "0". What's the secret?

try
00 (double zero) instead ... and dial the local/area code without the leading
0 (zero) (except Italy)
