I have a Skype account that I initiated in the USA (California) last month. I'm currently living in South Korea for a year, and want to call my grandma in Ireland, but I'm having trouble reaching her. Her phone number (land line) that I dial from a land line in the States is: 011 353 71 85414. The Dialing Wizard told me to use: +353 11 353 71 85414. That number didn't work from the USA nor from South Korea. Can you please tell me what I need to dial both from South Korea to Ireland, and from the USA to Ireland. I'm using my account which is based in the USA. Thanks!

Often #10480 means that there's a problem with the destination network (congestion and such). Then it helps to simply try calling later. If later retries don't work for you submit a support request and our PSTN dept. will have a look (make sure you specify the full and exact destination number so we can check the exact specifics).

The only other solution besides waiting is to:
Report each and every failed or bad quality call do not just send in 1 report keep doing it even if you are calling the same failed number each time to pstn-feedback@skype.net with your location, time of day of call and the complete phone number you were calling and of course what happened. Without this information there is not much Skype can do to fix your problem.

Rocketman, the number has never worked, no matter how many times I try it, so I don't think it's congestion. I receive the same error every time I call, it can be one second later, one minute later, one day later, one week later. How many times do I have to try and request help from Skype's technical support? I've done this two times already and have receive no reply back. That's why I thought I'd try this form. My grandma is really old, and I'd really like to be able to contact her -- it means the world to her. Are there any areas in Ireland that cannot receive Skype calls to a landline? Is there any other sort of explanation because it doesn't make much sense as to why it's not working. It works to the United States just fine.

2 question?.

1) Did you try dialing the number using the dialing wizard.

2) Have you reported all failed calles to the pstn email address in my post, this is the only place where failed call or any problems with the PSTN /Gateway will be delt with.

try 003537185414 ...

Rocketman, yes, I have tried dialing directly from the Dialing Wizard page, and yes, I have reported the series of attempts that didn't work (posted in my last reply). I don't seem to receive any feedback sending the attempts that don't work to them though.

Sonny, thanks for the suggestion, although it did not work either.

I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong or if it's the location I'm trying to reach. According to the dialing wizard though, I'm doing everything correctly.

If anyone can figure this out, I'll give you whatever you think it's worth -- I want so much to be able to call my grandma, for her sake!

"The Dialing Wizard told me to use: +353 11 353 71 85414" ...

impossible ...

you´re apparently making it more complicated than it actually is

it´s 00 (or +) - 353 for Ireland - 71 for Sligo - 85414 (your grandma´s subscribernumber = 003537185414

Did you actualy report your problem to this email address pstn-feedback@skype.net it is not good reporting the problem to Skype via the normal support ticket as nothing will get done it must always be reported to the pstn email address.

I got it to work! I ignored what the dialing wizard told me and tried a whole bunch of concoctions of numbers! Thank you both for all your help! I can't tell you how much your willingness to help me has meant to me! Thank you again!

Glad you got it sorted. What numbers did you use in the end so that if anybody has the same type of problem calling to Ireland we can make some suggestion to then to help.

I used +353 71 9185414.
Sonny's email helped me figure out new ways to try it.

+Country Code, County Code, Phone Number

When I was entering it into the dialing wizard, I was understanding it to mean "what is the number I would normally dial from my telephone (landline) to the receipient". So I entered: 011 353 71 9185414. It kept spitting out that I needed to then dial +353 11 353 7185414. So, it was dropping the 91 part and adding the Country Code to the number twice and adding part of the international call-to numbers of 011 to the phone number I'm supposed to dial. That's why it was so confusing.
