Full Version: Skype and UMPC (Origami)

I was wondering this, the Ultra-Mobile PC came out of practically nowhere this week.

Since these machines have 1+ GHz processors and all, it would seem that skype even with video could run on these machines. I'd love to see it, considering some of these UMPCs even come with integrated cameras like ASUS' offering displayed here:

Again, I'd love to see Skype with video cuposrt these machines. They run Windows XP Tablet PC edition, so I don't see why they wouldn't already be able to run Skype as is today.

I'm really excited about getting one of these, as my laptop is sitting in about 60 pieces at this moment.

I certainly agree with you that Skype will run on this "UMPC" thingy. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see Skype pre-installed once they start shipping. The problem perhaps is that the "form factor" is still to big. They're running about 2 lbs now, and Microsoft has already stated that they hope they'll get down to about 1 lb. Until that happens, Origami won't catch on.... but I might be wrong.
