Hello, I'm an avid Skype user and am trying to find a wireless stereo headset with microphone so I can use Skype wirelessly with my laptop.

It's proving hard to find something!

Most Bluetooth headsets are not stereo. IOGEAR makes a stereo unit but the microphone doesn't work with PCs!

I can't find anything else. I'd really appreciate some advice as to whether such a device is available. My laptop is not native Bluetooth but needs a dongle.

Mind you, the Bluetooth distance range is not great, so if there were something else that allowed use over more than 30 feet that would be fantastic.

Any recommendations, anyone?

Thank you.
David

I have had the same experience as you. I was also looking for a stereo wireless headset for skype but I don't think they exist (yet).

Yes such thing exist and I have 2 of those.

Motorola HT820 is a bluetooth headset that has excellent sound quality for listening to MP3 on your laptop, however I find that because the microphone is set right back into the headset, your own voice could sound distant to the caller. However if you are interested I will be glad to sell it to you for a small sum

I have another headset made by iTech and for my money I really like the iTech Clip S with the detacheable earphone (look at www.kjc-tech.com) as you can unplug one side of the earplug and use it like a single ear headset (legal requirement in the UK, both ears cannot be covered when you drive) or keep it stereo by using both, I find that normal conversation is better with both ear covered as you are not distracted by exteral noise. Because of the wired design I find that it look less geeky and in very windy or noisy situation you can actually hold the microphone next to your mouth and clasp it in your hand which makes for much clearer conversation for the listener, beside you can whisper into it if you want to make a private conversation, you cannot do so with the design of most bluetooth and you are forced to speak in a normal voice all the time as the mic is at best by your cheek.

Plantronics Pulsar 590a looks very cool and I read a couple of good reviews also. Still a bit pricey though, but you get bluetooth, stereo and a mice from a reputed vendor. I own a Plantronics voyager 510 that I use with my razr, and it works very well.
