Hi there!

We are a few thousand geeks out here waiting for Skype to be available for Nokia 770. (More info on http://nokia.com/770 and http://maemo.org ).

Is this being worked on? This is a good opportunity to create a GTK based front end as well (and make all the Gnome users happy).

Kind regards,
atte

770 is a cool gadget but linux desktop client is QT based, and QT/E is vey popular on embedded devices. If you look at the existing linux desktop client development pace, then I think you'll agree that starting up parallel gtk based UI development is not very likely. But hey, there is still hope if you lend a hand smile.png

It's a shame a market leader can't move forward into a new applet that provides great potential for a new generation of commucation... What is more frustrating is the following: as soon as the market will have confirmed the nokia 770 potential and competitors like Gizmo will have started thier business supplying our needs of VOIP smart fonctions, then you will do your job and supply your system for this applet. As usual and like any other leading brand Skype's behaviour is finance oriented and NOT customer oriented!!!!
Enjoy it until someone else becomes smarter and more client oriented!!

#1 Skype is QT, Nokia 770 is Hildon/GTK
#2 Skype is i386 (or PPC for OS X), Nokia is ARM
#3 Skype doesn't care; they'd much rather be working on their Windows client than develop for a minority.
