is it possible to record webcam video conversations with skype 2.0 for windows? possibly turn it into a .avi or .mpg?

yes you can record almost any image on your screen with Camtasia. I use it to record my video conversations. You can set Camtasia to record a specific window, so I set the video window in skype as the one. It records the audio too. Tip: don't disable the display acceleration in Camtasia or you'll just get a black window.
