Full Version: Accessing Skype servers instead the local client?

Hi,

I try to integrate Skype functions in the web based business application we offer. The software contains stuff like finacials, sales, procurement,...

One function we would like to build, is to make the customers record visible to the user when the customer calls in via Skype. The idea is that the user has a button in our application like "Who calls me" he can press to see customer related data. This is a classical CRM / CTI function.

The problem is now, that our application is a web based service and not a program which is installed on the local PC. Users access the application through web browsers only. The application is run in our datacenter. We do not have local programs installed at the users site.

I have not found any API calls / functions we could use to talk to the Skype servers directly. This however would be necessary since we do not want to offer local installed software.

Is there any way to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Bastian

Hi there!

No, unfortunately, this is not possible.

The current API is essentially an interface to the Skype Client, so in order to use it you must have the Skype Client installed. No direct interaction with Skype servers or Skype network is possible at this time.
