Dear All ,
I am the new one in this place. I have a question hope all friends can give me a hand.
We are writing a program using C.
If I want to call a PSTN phone number which has an extension(ex. +18005551234#3567), is there any API that can accomplish this?
Firstly, I send the command "CALL <target>". (For example, CALL +18005551234)
After this call is in progress, which command should i use to send the extension number to SKYPE?
Thanks a lot for your help~
Best Regards,
Mendy

Hi Mendy,
At the moment, afaik we can't use the dialpad from the API (ringtones...), you can ask via OPEN DIALPAD but then BTN_RELEASED can't interact with the dialpad...
If you agree, it will be the only answer at the moment but I let the Engineering know about this very smart request and I will come back to you asap if something is going to happen on this aim.
Cheers,
Antoine

All you have to do is support dialing rules..
for example. a comma , is a 1 second pause etc..
so 1 800 555 1212,,,213 would call that number = wait for the autoattendant and then dial the extension.

The standard comma technique doesn't work. If I dial +13235551111,,,2 it returns "Invalid Number" (that number is just an example, of course).
It should pause three seconds (one second per comma) after dialing the first 11 numbers, then dial 2, but it doesn't work. I've been doing this all my life with modems, why doesn't Skype incorporate this?
Any other ideas?

Hi guys,
You can definitly do that if you type or ask : SET CALL <id> DTMF <value>
during your call. This command needs the call id of the moment and the value you need during this call.
Find docs here :

This should be in the suggestions forum, but me too!
my daughter is behind an automated extension management system at Uni. I need to phone "number+wait for connect+pause 1sec+extension". I should be able to do this as part of normal Skype out. Just supporting the old Hayes number extensions would be fine.

We are not, at least I am not, a computer programmer. I just assumed this was a User's forum.
Can you please tell us, in plain English, exactly what to type to dial a phone number, pause a certain number of seconds, then dial an extension or PIN number? And, once you show us how, can we store it as a number for a Contact?
Show us what to type to dial a number, pause, then dial an exension or PIN number. No computer programming code, please. I am not writing a computer program.
thanks!

davidfx323,
this forum is about Skype API -- Application Program Interface. So you should've in fact asked your question in other forums
But, unless you want to do some programming, then you can call dial-through numbers as follows:
* call the base number (you can have it stored in your contact list)
* switch to the Dialpad in Skype Client
* dial whatever extension you need.
Skype Client does not currently support numbers like +18005551234p567 so you cannot save the extension into your contact list.

If you want an example of how this can be done from a third party perspective, you may want to check out
AIVMS. It will associate a stored tone sequence with a SkypeOut number, and you can activate the sequence with simple voice commands.
There are a huge number of normal land line phones now that will not accept an incoming call from a number when no valid caller id is transmitted via ANI (i.e. all Skype calls). AIVMS can detect when a call has been intercepted by the telco system due to these blocks, and will automatically transmit the stored tone sequence of the Skype users phone number required in order to complete the call.
If you are using a bluetooth headset, and you are not at your computer when you encounter calls such as this, or any of the plethora of automated attendents and company voice mail systems that seem to be a fact of life now, a voice commanded artificial intelligence like AIVMS is pretty nice to have around.

I'm not certain that ACR rejects Skype calls. I receive a caller-id of 000-012-3456 on my T-Mobile cell phone when I call it from my Skype account. Are you sure your ACR rejected a Skype call?

The ACR service differs somewhat depending on the particular telco, but in general the call will be routed for authorization if the ANI contains either no caller ID or a caller ID from an unlisted number.
If your telco (e.g. T-Mobile) is allowing an area code of 000 to go through, then I would say the ACR service they offer is either a bit substandard, or the service is simply not active on your T-Mobile account: Most ACR systems require the service to be activated manually on the customers phone. This is typically done by dialing *77, and can also be deactivated if desired by dialing *87.
