I have Skype installed on both my desktop and my laptop. Skype on my desktop works perfectly but Skype on my laptop does not. I can hear sound coming in but nothing seems to go out. I checked this with echo123.

I've tested the microphone using simple software to record my voice to disc and it plays back. Both computers are running the same operating system namely Debian Testing (Etch) although the desktop runs a 2.4 kernel and the laptop a 2.6 kernel. Both use OSS.

Both computers go through the same router which incorporates a firewall but the firewall does not cause problems with Skype on the desktop.

I'm at a bit of a loss here. Does anyone have any suggestions?
