I add contacts, but they never show on the list of contacts. I have maybe 10, one shows up. If I add them again, it says they already are on the list. This strikes me as a HUGE problem.

This seems to be happening to my wife on her Mac as well.
I am on Windows, so I don't know how to help her!
It's strange, but Skype seems much harder to figure out on the Mac than on Windows, a situation I usually don't find to be true.
For example, In Windows you can multi-select two contacts (assuming they are SHOWING in your list!), and you automatically get a group.
We had to search far and wide to figure that out on a Mac!
Good luck; I think we will try re-installing; that seemed to work for someone in another post...
