hi, i'm running redhat fedora core 4 ( 2.6.14-1.1656_FC4 ) and i am able to receive calls fine. i can hear the caller and the microphone works fine. however when i try to make a call i get the error "problem with device"

this is a brand new install of fedora core 4 with default setup. do i need to do something else to be able to make outgoing calls?

I had the same problem. It is a bug in Fedora Core 4.
Try to record something form the mic - it won't work.
I had to go back to FC3.
