I just recently bought Skype credit and tested out making a call (From USA to USA). Actually, they were local calls. I just wanted to test it out. The rate on the Skype WebSite shows this rate as $0.021 per minute. The duration of my call was under one minute. Yet, I was charged $0.06. I don't quite understand that? Can anyone explain this discrepancy?? Thanks.

There's a per-call connection fee in addition to the per-minute charges.

Any idea how much is the connection fee? Cause I noticed the same thing. A call from NZ to US is .031/min but for a 16 sec call I got billed 11 cents. Not much has been mentioned in terms of connection fee cause i was trying to look it up.

I have a similar query and i cant figure out the reason
I rang a South African mobile using skype credit, the rate on the website is € 0.217 inc VAT.
I made a call for 14 mins 30 secs, it cost me €5.18, which works out at approx 0.357 per min whic is a BIG difference.
anyone have any ideas why this is?

A 15 minute call to a South African cellphone should have cost Euro 4.05 including the connection fee.
You appear to have been charged for a 24 minute call.
