Here's some information for all needing a VOIP 321 solution for Windoze 7:
All systems referred to within this post are Dell systems (XPS, D620, D630 running Intel Core Duo x64 processors, and an Inspiron 1501 running an AMD dual core 64 processor). All 4 computers have been running Windoze 7 Ultimate 64 bit edition since the middle of September in pre-release. The retail installation accomplished on Friday of last week did not change any of the information contained within this post.
Download the install program for the Philips VOIP321 (version 4.0). It will install the BASIC VOIP. You can download the CD image at: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/v/voip321..._37_cdi_eng.zip. While you are there, ALSO DOWNLOAD the Vista driver. It is at: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/v/voip321..._37_dwv_eng.exe.
Run the install program from the CD, NOT THE VISTA DRIVER. NOTE: When it comes to the part for installing SKYPE, click CANCEL as it will install an earlier version of SKYPE.
Follow all of the prompts from the installation CD. Make the changes to your audio system and so forth as instructed, if you wish. The links in the install program work in Windoze 7 just as if they were running on a Vista system.
NOTE: You cannot work the phone, on the install part of this information, from a USB hub. It must be connected directly to the PC's USB port.
After the install is completed, go straight to the Vista driver you downloaded and install it. If prompted, choose "Repair" as the option.
After that is done, look in your hard drive location C:\Program Files (x86)\Philips\VOIP321 and find the VOIP321.exe application. Right click on the application and, looking across the tabs in the top of the window, select "Compatibility." Place a checkmark in the "Run this in the compatibility mode for" checkbox, and select Windows XP Service Pack 3."
Press "OK," then close the windows.
Now, VOIP321 may or may not be running at this time. So, "CTRL-ALT-DELETE," run the task manager, and check if VOIP321 is running. To do this click the Processes tab, not the applications tab. Further, click the tab titled "Image Name" and it will display all of the running processes alphabetically. If you see VIOIP321 running, single click on it and then end the process. Close task manager and return to your desktop.
If it is not running, no problem. Close the Task Manager and continue.
Now, go to your start menu, programs, find the Philips folder and launch VOIP321. If your phone is not plugged in, plug it into the USB port now. NOTE - It will NOT work with any of the 3 external USB ports I tested. It will only work plugged directly into the USB port of a desktop unit, a laptop unit (tested on Dell D620 and XPS system) and on the D620 docking station.
After you plug the phone into the USB port, click "OK" if prompted and you're ready to go. This worked for me on the computers mentioned above as well as a D630 and a Dell Inspiron 1501 running an AMD64 processor.
I hope this helps you, and others.
