Full Version: HowTo play notifications in 2.1 from speakers while using headset for chat

I just upgraded from Skype 2.0 on Ubuntu Karmic.

I got the 2.1 beta working without too many issues. There was a recording issue, but that turned out to be that the mic volume was set too low to be picked up.

So far all seems good -- except for one thing, and I don't know if this is Pulseaudio related or if it's a setting that I'm missing.

On version 2, it was possible to send sound notifications to the computer speakers, and all of the chat audio to the headset. Now, it seems to send ALL audio events to the headset.

Is there a way to fix this? Is it a bug, or a new "feature"?

Running:
Skype 2.1.047
Ubuntu Karmic AMD64
pulseaudio 0.9.19

Worked out a solution for this issue and posted it here:

Turns out that the issue is that Pulse Audio treats all aspects of Skype audio output as the same, so you all you have to do is call an external audio utility to play the sound files, then isolate that player in the Pulse Audio Volume Control.
