i recently called a fellow skype (ab)user, which is in itself a rare occurence for a sad'oh linux geek like me. throughout the call the cpu usage would rise up to about 60% over a period of about 10 seconds and then fall back to around 20. after a few minutes talking the cpu spiked to 100% for a few seconds and the call got disconnected

i have a 1.7ghz p4. should it even be using that much cpu?
