Skype Community > English > Linux

after install and first I got a an ALSA_0.9 relocation error:

./skype: relocation error: ./skype: symbol snd_device_name_hint, version ALSA_0.9 not defined in file libasound.so.2 with link time reference

The version I installed and I am trying to use is skype_static-2.1.0.47

How can I fix this problem?

// __ Mon Oct 19 19:19:22 EDT 2009

I have also found an error, but I have no idea if and if so, to which extent it could be related to my problem

knoppix@Knoppix:~$ dmesg | grep skype
process `skype' is using obsolete setsockopt SO_BSDCOMPAT

Thanks

on eeepc 1000 and ran into the same issue with 2.1.0.24 using both the ubuntu hardy and static installs.

Gee.. worried.png I'd say you better explicitly ask for the dev's help in the 2.1 ALSA feedback thread too, and spell out your system's details (uname -a, alsa version#, ..), any more of that system message, whether Pidgin/Empathy works with GoogleTalk etc, or related sound system checks.
Maybe do "mkdir ~/.Skype/Logs" and attach what it dumps to post there.

Best wishes!
