I am currently using Macbook Pro 10.5.8 and just updated the latest skype for Mac (ver 2.8.722). I can note that my web presence on the web is always grey (offline), even though the check box for web presence in preferences is checked. I had the same problem with the earlier version of skype as well. This means that other users will always see me as offline (not green), when I open my skype and connected to the Internet.

I have the opposite! Skype 2.8 shows me continuously online when I am offline ... I switched back to 2.7 for the time being.
